Kittel Harsu Haro
Strawberry | Elderflower | Buttercream
Region: Ethiopia
At some of Ethiopia's most extreme altitudes lies Guji's Uraga district, home to dense, mountainous forests that span more than a thousand square kilometers. Within this huge forest lie three smaller forests, and from these three forests—Yabitu Koba, Larcho Torka, and Harsu Haro—come some of the most extraordinary and sought-after coffees.
Home to more than 30 million people, the region of Oromia, where Guji is located, is one of Ethiopia's most historic coffee-growing areas. The region's soil is a fertile sandy loam with excellent water retention and drainage. With careful planting, it is self-sustaining and does not require added fertilizer to produce high-quality coffee. Farmers here mostly produce shade-grown coffees, organic coffees, intercropped with subsistence food crops.
More than 360 producers from the Haro Wachu community contribute their cherries to the washing station, and this celebrated coffee with notes of strawberry and elderflower, and a smooth, creamy finish is a testament to their incredible work.
